Surrender 2011

4 04 2011

Surrender is a yearly conference run in the city of Melbourne, Australia. Every year they examine the issues of social justice within Australia, this year was no different.

On the 23rd of march at around 4:00am, five of the edify crew, (Nathan, Simon, Krystle, Ibby and Alex), piled into the Tarago and set off on the 10 hour journey to Melbourne, the rest of the crew flew down later on that day. Once we were all there we met up at The Salvation Army 614. That night we had the Free Burma caterers providing dinner at one of the UNOH community meetings. From there we travelled to Boronia and spent the next two nights at the Mountain View Salvation Army Property.

Friday morning we set off for surrender, ready to be inspired and changed. Throughout the event we all got to spend a day in a volunteer role, except for Sonya who was the cleaning volunteer coordinator for the entire event.

Surrender 2011 was an awesome experience for everyone. It was great to see the work being done throughout Australia and to find out about all the people making a difference and all the organizations you can get involved in.
